Reflect and Re-energize Hike   Thursday,  JAN  1, 2015
9:00 AM

SOLANO LAND TRUST —  Lynch Canyon Open Space Park
Join us for a New Year’s Day hike to reflect and re-energize. There is no better way to start a new year than getting out in the fresh air, enjoying the changes of the season, reflecting upon your past year and dreaming up a fantastic new year. As Lynch Canyon becomes revitalized, so will you! Please arrive 15 minutes early, meet your guide at the entrance gate, then check-in and get ready. Participants of all ages are welcome, but they must be prepared for the following: This hike will be approximately 5.5 miles. The route includes rugged, steep, and slippery hills that are full of sticky seeds and thorny plants. Expect rough, rocky, uneven ground. The trail will take us through the valley and then up onto the ridgeline. We will keep a moderate pace with plenty of breaks to catch our breath, discover the wildlife and reflect over the vistas. Since Lynch Canyon is otherwise closed on this day, the entry and exit gate will be locked except for the start and end times of the hike. Visitors must be accompanied by a docent at all times. This is a working ranch where free-range cattle roam as they please. There is no drinking water. There is one bathroom, located in the parking lot. In order to protect wildlife, cattle, and rare plants—and for your pet's safety—dogs are not allowed. Bring a backpack with plenty of water and snacks, wear boots or sturdy closed-toe shoes with good grip, layered clothes that you don't mind getting dirty, protection from the elements (sun, wind, fog, rain). Also recommended: hiking sticks, bug repellent, binoculars, a camera. Fog is fun. Rain will cancel. Call your guide if the weather is uncertain. RSVP appreciated to Marion Kastner by email or at 603-801-1210.
