Alamo Creek Restoration Volunteer Planting   Saturday,  JAN  24, 2015

SOLANO RESOURCE CONSERVATION DISTRICT —  Alamo Creek Bike Trail
We’re planting 500 native trees/shrubs and 8,000 native grass/wildflower plugs along the Alamo Creek Bike Trail in Vacaville. This is our second year of planting along the Alamo Creek corridor, and we’ve greatly improved local wildlife habitat. Come help us make it even better! RSVP to Katherine Holmes by email or at 707-678-1655 x118. All ages welcome; kids need to work closely with parents. No expertise is needed to help– anyone with an interest in conservation or restoration is welcome at these events, including families, clubs and service groups. Dress in layers, and bring sun protection and a water bottle. Solano RCD will provide snacks and all necessary tools. Site location and other information will be sent once you RSVP.
Registration is required.

BENICIA STATE PARKS ASSOCIATION —  Forrest Deaner Native Plant Botanic Garden
We meet every Saturday from 9:30-11:30am in the Forrest Deaner Native Plant Botanic Garden located at the Benicia State Park Recreation Area for planting, weeding, and tending. Parking is free on Saturday Volunteer Days. Tell the Gate Attendant that you are going into the Park to work at the Garden.

Bees, Bees, Bees!   Saturday,  JAN  24, 2015

RUSH RANCH EDUCATIONAL COUNCIL —  Rush Ranch Nature Center
Dr. Robbin Thorp, UC Davis Professor Emeritus, will make an appearance to share his extensive knowledge of California's native bees, discuss their importance as crop pollinators, and encourage participants to create habitats that foster growth of bee populations on farms and in gardens. This free program will last approximately 2 hours and will be held indoors in the Rush Ranch Nature Center conference room.
