Benicia Christmas Bird Count, Pre-Count Scouting   Sunday,  DEC  15, 2019

NAPA SOLANO AUDUBON — 
Join Robin Leong to scout several locations in advance of the Benicia Christmas Bird Count. ou will learn how to estimate the number of species seen, as well as tally as many species as possible. Since this field trip is during the count period, species can be counted as a Count Week species if they are not seen on the December 18th Christmas Bird Count. We will bird until approximately noon. Bring snacks and/or lunch. Please bring binoculars, layered clothing and something to eat, if you like. Heavy rain will cancel the walk. For more information, contact Robin Leong.

DIRECTIONS: Scouting at various locations. Meet at 1st Street Pier in Benicia. Take Hwy 780 East and exit 3B for Military W. Continue on Military W Drive to 1st Street and turn right. Continue on 1st to the pier.

 
Canoe Tour   Sunday,  DEC  15, 2019

PUTAH CREEK COUNCIL —  Lake Solano
Celebrate spring with a guided canoe tour at Lake Solano Park! This canoe adventure is from 12:15 PM - 2:30 PM and will be led by volunteer docent Linda Allison and Zoey Heyer-Gray. Discover the wonders of Putah Creek through exploration, relaxation, and education. The tour is an opportunity to learn about life along the river and the special riparian forest that grows along its banks. The guided trip is limited to 14 guests. Children age 8 and older are welcome if accompanied by an adult. There will be a basic safety and paddling discussion before beginning. Canoes, paddles, and lifejackets will be provided free of charge. Participants may want to bring water, a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen. You may get wet, so a change of clothes is recommended! DIRECTIONS: Lake Solano Park straddles Pleasants Valley Road, north of Vacaville and near the town of Winters. Pay the $6 parking fee and park on the east-side of Pleasants Valley Rd.
