12:00 PM MARE ISLAND HERITAGE TRUST Mare Island Shoreline Heritage Preserve The cemetery on Mare Island is the Navy's oldest cemetery in the West, with graves there dating back to the 1850's. Park at the Visitor's Center and meet at the cemetery, just a few hundred feet up the trail. We will be offering two tours, one starting at 12pm, and the other at 1pm. Realistically, 40 people is the maximum number at this time for each tour. If there are more than 40 people that arrive BY NOON for the first tour, we will ask folks who arrive after that to join us for the 2nd tour at 1pm. We hope you understand, and we will try to accommodate everyone. And if more people show up, we will add another tour, starting at 2pm. We hope this will be a monthly event on second Saturdays. Please give us a call at 707-241-4285 if you have any questions about the tours. The event is free, but your donations to the Mare Island Shoreline Heritage Preserve are always encouraged, and help keep the park going!
