Holiday Hike   Monday,  FEB  16, 2015
9:00 AM

SOLANO LAND TRUST —  Rockville Trails Preserve
Enjoy the holiday with a quick-paced power hike through the hills between Green Valley and Suisun Valley. Enjoy great views of oak woodlands while getting in shape! Participants of all ages are welcome, but they must be prepared for: quick pace with a few short breaks hiking 4-5 miles up and down rugged, steep, and slippery hills that are full of sticky seeds, thorny plants, and thistle. Rockville Trails is a working ranch—cattle are free range so they roam as they please. All trails are unimproved—expect rough, rocky, uneven ground. Visitors must be accompanied by a docent at all times. Since the preserve is otherwise closed, the entry and exit gate will be locked except for the start and end times of the hike. There is no drinking water, no bathrooms, and no pets allowed.

Be prepared with a backpack with plenty of water and snacks, boots or sturdy closed-toe shoes with good tread, long, sturdy pants and layered clothes, protection from the elements (sun, wind, fog, rain). Recommended: hiking sticks, bug repellent, binoculars, camera Your safety is your responsibility. Maintain a safe distance from cattle and wildlife, and be aware that this is tick, rattlesnake, and mountain lion country.

Space is limited. Advance registration recommended. Click here to register online. Extreme weather (e.g., heavy rain or red flag conditions) may cancel. Call your guide, Cathy, at 707-745-1913 if the weather is uncertain.
