MARE ISLAND HERITAGE TRUST —  Vallejo Veteran’s Memorial Building
You may have heard that with the City of Vallejo's closure of the Mare Island Preserve, the Flyway Festival was cancelled. But we have found a way and a venue to host a 1-Day-Only Family Wildlife and Birding Expo, Saturday, Feb 8, 9A to 4P, at the Vallejo Veteran's Memorial Building.

GVRD —  McIntyre Ranch
Ages 4-14 -- The McIntyre Ranch is home to several different habitats, farm animals and an educational garden. Studies have found that children who spend time exploring nature are more focused and interested in school. Bring a snack, water and your curiosity! Second Saturday of the month. Pre-registration is required. Cost for residents is $5 and $6 for non-residents. For more information contact the Coordinator at 707-648-4620.

DIRECTIONS: McIntyre Ranch, located at the very end of St. John’s Mine Road, across from the Solano Community College Vallejo Center at 545 Columbus Parkway. Take St. John’s Mine Road and cross over the cattle crossing. Continue up the road and stay to the right to follow the road down to the barn. You are authorized to drive through this road for GVRD programs only.

BENICIA TREE FOUNDATION —  Robert Semple Elementary School
No experience necessary. Tools and instruction provided. Bring gloves if you have them. Children under 14 must have accompanying adult and all participants must sign our release waiver. RSVP for details on meeting point by contacting the Benicia Tree Foundation at 745-4675 or by email. Set aside a few hours every second Saturday of the month to give our trees some TLC. Rain cancels.

Burn your Valentine's Day calories ahead of time! Hike our new trails and enjoy great views and bring along someone special if you like! This is a special opportunity because Rockville Trails Preserve is otherwise closed. Up to 4 miles. Pre-registration is recommended online.

DIRECTIONS: Meet promptly at the big red "Ice House" building on Suisun Valley Ct, near the intersection of Rockville Rd and Suisun Valley Rd, Fairfield, CA. Be ready to immediately carpool or caravan from there to the trailhead.

This easy, family friendly hike will start and end at the Rush Ranch picnic area. Barbara Fredericks will lead some warm up stretches and a yoga session later on. Participants can enjoy the sun on their face and the wind in their hair while they do yoga. Meet at picnic tables. This is a freeevent. RSVP recommended RSVP recommended online.

BENICIA STATE PARKS ASSOCIATION —  Forrest Deaner Native Plant Botanic Garden
We meet every Saturday from 9:30-11:30am in the Forrest Deaner Native Plant Botanic Garden located at the Benicia State Park Recreation Area for planting, weeding, and tending. Parking is free on Saturday Volunteer Days. Tell the Gate Attendant that you are going into the Park to work at the Garden.

Morning Habitat Planting   Saturday,  FEB  8, 2020

PUTAH CREEK COUNCIL —  Lake Solano County Park
Join Putah Creek Council in a day of planting native plants at Lake Solano Park! We'll be planting native trees, shrubs, and forbs in the day use area to provide wildlife habitat and erosion control. Native plants improve water quality, habitat for birds, small mammals, and beneficial insects, and help prevent soil erosion. Please prepare for the weather and variable conditions by bringing water, wearing sturdy shoes, and dressing in layers. We provide all the tools and supplies, including gloves. We'll be meeting at 9:30 am and work until noon. Please dress appropriately for the weather in clothes that can get dirty and closed-toe shoes. Don't forget your water bottle! If you are under 18, you MUST bring this completed liability form with a parent's signature. This event will happen rain or shine! Putah Creek Council will bring ponchos and mud boots if necessary.
