ROTARY CLUB AND GVRD —  Dan Foley Park, Lake Chabot
For ages 5-12, 8:00am-11:00am at Dan Foley Park, Lake Chabot. You MUST PRE-REGISTER at our Main Office 395 Amador St. or online at www.gvrd.org. All children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Clinical training stations for kids to learn how to fish will be from 8:00-9:30am. Training must be completed before you fish, no exceptions. This event is for children only. Be sure to pre-register before the event as we can only take the first 100 participants. Ages 4-14 -- The McIntyre Ranch is home to several different habitats, farm animals and an educational garden. Studies have found that children who spend time exploring nature are more focused and interested in school. Bring a snack, water and your curiosity! Cost: $5/class for residents, $6/class nonresident. Adults must register at no cost. Pre-registration is required at 395 Amador St. or online. Volunteer Opportunity: Trail Crew   Saturday,  APR  11, 2015

SOLANO LAND TRUST —  Lynch Canyon Open Space Park
Help us take care of Lynch Canyon's 1,000 plus acres. Projects include improving trails, fixing fences, weeding, and the like. Ages 12 and up are welcome—under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. WHAT TO BRING: a backpack with plenty of water and snacks, heavy work gloves, eye protection (e.g., sunglasses), boots or sturdy closed-toe shoes with tread for rough, steep, and slippery terrain, long, sturdy pants and layered clothes that you don't mind getting dirty, protection from sun, wind, fog and rain. Meet Ken promptly in the parking lot. RSVP to Ken Poerner at 707-580-6277 or email so he can bring enough tools. Meet up at the parking lot.

BENICIA STATE PARKS ASSOCIATION —  Forrest Deaner Native Plant Botanic Garden
We meet every Saturday from 9:30-11:30am in the Forrest Deaner Native Plant Botanic Garden located at the Benicia State Park Recreation Area for planting, weeding, and tending. Parking is free on Saturday Volunteer Days. Tell the Gate Attendant that you are going into the Park to work at the Garden.

MARE ISLAND HERITAGE TRUST —  Mare Island Shoreline Heritage Preserve
Join us for a walk around the oldest area of Mare Island Shoreline Heritage Preserve. This area is not currently open to the public except for these regularly scheduled walks allowed by the US Navy. The Navy does not allow dogs or bikes on this outing. Bring cameras, binoculars, snacks and dress for all kinds of weather, and wear comfortable walking shoes. Flat paved and gravel roads. Also, the OSPREY are nesting!

Nature Walk: Aquatic Life of Lake Solano   Saturday,  APR  11, 2015

PUTAH CREEK COUNCIL —  Lake Solano County Park
Have you ever wished you could live underwater? Ever wondered what creatures exist below the surface? Come explore the aquatic wildlife of Lake Solano Park with volunteer docent Megan Harns. Meet at the Lake Solano Nature Center to begin your adventure into the watery world of Putah Creek. We will investigate what lives beneath the surface, what makes up a fish's diet, and how the underwater critters can tell us about the creek's health. We'll even create our own art projects showing what we discovered! This family-friendly event is a great opportunity to have fun, learn, and get fresh air and exercise. The activities are appropriate for all ages, and we welcome families and groups. Please prepare for the weather and variable conditions by dressing appropriately, bringing a water bottle, and wearing sturdy shoes. Please register online. Wildflowers & Aquatic Critters Walk   Saturday,  APR  11, 2015

SOLANO LAND TRUST —  Jepson Prairie
Jepson Prairie Preserve is one of California’s best remaining examples of vernal pools and native grasslands. Enjoy an easy walk in a portion of the Preserve only accessible with a Jepson Prairie docent. The Preserve explodes into color during its spring wildflower display. Dry and dormant most of the year, the prairie is transformed by winter rains into a tapestry of stunning colors, and its vernal pools host a rich diversity of rare aquatic life. WHAT TO BRING: Protection from sun, wind, fog, and rain. Note: It is often windy! Cash donation suggested but not required: $5/adult. Scenic Limited Wildflower Train   Saturday,  APR  11, 2015

BAY AREA ELECTRIC RAILROAD ASSOCIATION —  Western Railway Museum
All aboard for the Scenic Limited, running on Wednesdays, Saturday, and Sundays in April at 11am, 12:30pm, and 2pm! The Scenic Limited is an hour-long ride for all ages that highlights the natural wildflowers that dot the hillsides. Passengers admire panoramic views populated with native wildflowers such as poppies, goldfields, and lupine. A limited number of first-class seats can be reserved in the Parlor-Observation car, which include cookies and lemonade. Special rates available for current Museum members. Coach tickets are $11 for adults, $10 for seniors 65 years and older, and $8 for children 2-14. All coach tickets are all first-come, first-served. All first-class tickets are $6 extra, and include cookies and lemonade served by uniformed staff. Advanced reservations for first-class accepted online or by calling 800-838-3006.
