Hiking and Yoga: HOGA   Saturday,  MAY  9, 2015
7:30 AM

SOLANO LAND TRUST —  Rockville Trails Preserve
Celebrate spring and enjoy the tranquil setting of Rockville Trails Preserve with a mixture of hiking and yoga: HOGA, 7:45am – 12:00pm The guided three-mile hike with standing yoga poses along the way will focus on connecting with nature and the outdoors through movement and meditation. Arrive on time and be prepared to carpool from the meeting place to the trailhead. The hiking portion of HOGA will cover approximately three miles up and down rocky, steep, and slippery hills that may be full of sticky seeds and thorny plants. Some travel may be off-trail. At various points we will stop for a set of standing yoga poses led by a Certified Yoga Therapist/Registered Yoga Teacher. The yoga poses will be beginner level, including lunging, reaching, and meditating. We welcome yogis of all levels, and anyone 10 years and older. The preserve is a working ranch where free-range cattle roam as they please. Visitors must be accompanied by a docent at all times. Since the preserve is otherwise closed, the entry and exit gate will be locked except for the start and end times of the hike. There is no drinking water. There are no bathrooms. In order to protect wildlife, cattle, and rare plants--and for your pet's safety--dogs are not allowed. Maintain a safe distance from cattle and wildlife, and be aware that this is tick, rattlesnake, mountain lion, and wild pig country.

Bring backpack with plenty of water and snacks. Wear hiking boots or sturdy closed-toe shoes with good grip, long, comfortable, flexible pants are recommended, along with layered clothes, and protection from sun, wind and fog. (No yoga mat is necessary since the poses will be standing yoga.) Rain cancels. For questions or if weather is uncertain, call John at 760-604-1800. Space is limited and pre-registration is required at online.

DIRECTIONS: Meet promptly at the big red "Ice House" building on Suisun Valley Ct, near the intersection of Rockville Rd and Suisun Valley Rd, Fairfield, CA. Park by the big red barn and be ready to immediately carpool or caravan from there to the trailhead.
