9:30 AM

GREENBELT ALLIANCE —  Blue Rock Springs Park
This is a 5.5 mile one-way hike along the Benicia Vallejo Buffer Trail, a part of the Bay Area Ridge Trail. Our trip begins with a short round-trip to a rocky ridge then returns to the rolling green lawns and shady picnic areas of Blue Rock Springs Park. It then follows a paved path/sidewalk or bike lane for two miles to the Buffer Trail, which meanders almost three miles up and down hilly grasslands toward Benicia State Recreation Area, providing outstanding views. The last 0.3-mile section of trail is on city streets in Benicia, including a 0.1-mile undedicated section. Cars will pick us up at the end of the hike and return us to the beginning location. Estimated to last from 9:30A to 1P. Please RSVP online. Bring water, snacks, dress in layers, and wear good walking shoes. Historic Mare Island Navy Cemetery Tour   Saturday,  JUL  13, 2019
12:00 PM

MARE ISLAND HERITAGE TRUST —  Mare Island Shoreline Heritage Preserve
The cemetery on Mare Island is the Navy's oldest cemetery in the West, with graves there dating back to the 1850's. Park at the Visitor's Center and meet at the cemetery, just a few hundred feet up the trail. We will be offering two tours, one starting at 12pm, and the other at 1pm. Realistically, 40 people is the maximum number at this time for each tour. If there are more than 40 people that arrive BY NOON for the first tour, we will ask folks who arrive after that to join us for the 2nd tour at 1pm. We hope you understand, and we will try to accommodate everyone. And if more people show up, we will add another tour, starting at 2pm. We hope this will be a monthly event on second Saturdays. Please give us a call at 707-241-4285 if you have any questions about the tours. The event is free, but your donations to the Mare Island Shoreline Heritage Preserve are always encouraged, and help keep the park going!
