Speeder Runs   Saturday,  JUL  16, 2016
BAY AREA ELECTRIC RAILROAD ASSOCIATION —  Western Railway Museum
Railroad motorcars or 'Speeders' were used by the railroads to inspect the many miles of track for defects and to handle track maintenance. Now they are privately owned and owners operate through clubs. The Motorcar Operators West group will have their speeders on hand to provide rides for the public. Rides will be available on a first come, first served basis at an additional cost. Summer hours are 10:30am to 5:00 pm. Admission prices are $10 for adults, $9 for Seniors over 65, and & for youth 2-14.

Valley Vets Run/Walk   Saturday,  JUL  16, 2016

SVNC SUPPORT COMMITTEE —  Suisun City Waterfront
Join in a walk/run to honor the veterans buried at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery Dixon, CA. The SVNC Support Committee provides support and assistance to the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery. This fun walk/run will help the SVNC Support Committee raise funds for the continued beautification and enhancement of the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery. The Support Committee also organizes and hosts the annual Memorial Day and Wreaths Across America event held at the cemetery. During the honor run, you will also have an opportunity to purchase a wreath at an additional cost for the Wreaths Across America event that will be held Saturday, December 17, 2016 at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery. To pre-register, click here. Cost is $45, and T-shirts are available while supplies last. Grab your friends, form a team for this fun-filled family event and walk/run to show your support for our local fallen heroes. AMERICAN WARRIOR INITIATIVE —  Lagoon Valley Park
The Lead The Way 5k is a national fundraising tour supporting the American Warrior Initiative (AWI). Led by the very first recipient of the AWI campaigns, Ben Lunak (USMC), the 5k events will raise funds for Veterans, Active Duty Military and their families. The mission of the American Warrior Initiative is to educate, encourage and inspire Americans to give back to our active duty and veteran clients. A key part of this initiative is the Lead The Way 5k "Race For Warriors" Tour. Please check out the American Warrior Initiative online to see how AWI has changed the lives of many of the wounded heroes of America in 2014 & 2015. Rockville Hills Regional Park Trail Crew   Saturday,  JUL  16, 2016

CITY OF FAIRFIELD —  Rockville Hills Regional Park
The Rockville Trail Crew volunteer work days are scheduled for the third Saturday of every month from 9-12noon, rain or shine! Trail Crew volunteers provide technical assistance with trail maintenance and construction activities on the trails. Trail Crew volunteer duties consist of clearing rocks, trees, brush and other debris from proposed trail routes; build/repair walk ways, bridges or other structures; grade/fill existing trail paths to ensure user safety; and attend all required meetings and training sessions. Volunteers should bring water, gloves and a tool if available. Volunteers should wear layered clothing and sturdy shoes. A snack and beverage provided for volunteers. Meet at the parking area. BENICIA STATE PARKS ASSOCIATION —  Forrest Deaner Native Plant Botanic Garden
We meet every Saturday from 9:30-11:30am in the Forrest Deaner Native Plant Botanic Garden located at the Benicia State Park Recreation Area for planting, weeding, and tending. Parking is free on Saturday Volunteer Days. Tell the Gate Attendant that you are going into the Park to work at the Garden.

Horse Day at McIntyre Ranch   Saturday,  JUL  16, 2016

GVRD —  McIntyre Ranch
For ages 8-17 -- Learn about the friendly horses and goats, and participate in their daily care. Wear sturdy work clothes and tough shoes because this is a "hand-on" experience. You will put a halter on a horse, learn to lead horses safely, brush them, clean their feet and clean their stalls. Everyone will have a chance to sit on a horse (helmet are required and provided, keep hairstyle simple for easy fit). Eat a good breakfast, bring water bottle and wear layers. For more information contact the Coordinator at 648-4552. Cost: $25/class resident, $30/class non-resident. Registration is also available online, click on 'Outdoors'.

DIRECTIONS: McIntyre Ranch, located at the very end of St. John’s Mine Road, across from the Solano Community College Vallejo Center at 545 Columbus Parkway. Take St. John’s Mine Road and cross over the cattle crossing. Continue up the road and stay to the right to follow the road down to the barn. You are authorized to drive through this road for GVRD programs only.

Part of the 'Get the Rush' at Rush Ranch activities, the NERR will be hosting Science Discovery Labs. Make it a Science Day for your family! The “STEM” (Science, Technology, and Engineering) activities are self-directed and parents are expected to guide and supervise their children. Educators will be on hand to answer questions, support the learning, and encourage the fun. From 10AM until noon.

Ever wonder why Lake Berryessa was created? How much water it holds? What was there before the reservoir? Where the water goes? Get answers to these questions and more when you meet a Park Ranger at Monticello Dam every Saturday throughout the summer.
