6th Annual Ride to Defeat Diabetes   Sunday,  SEP  10, 2017

NORTHBAY HEALTHCARE —  VacaValley Hospital
The Ride to Defeat Diabetes (R2D2) offers three routes, so cyclists of all levels are sure to enjoy this unique day of fitness, fun and new friendships. There are three separate rides, a 10-mile mile jaunt through a Vacaville residential neighborhood, a 25-mile trek, and 60-mile ride to challenge your mind, body and soul as you climb the Winters Loop. No matter which route you choose, you'll be fully supported with route marshals, SAG support, basic mechanical support, fully stocked rest stops, hydration stations and more. At the finish, you will be welcomed by cheering volunteers, great food, entertainment and much more! The 60-mile ride departs at 7:30a.m., followed by the 25-mile ride at 9:00 a.m. Participants in the 10-mile ride will roll out at 10:00 a.m. Organizers are asking each person who signs up for the 10-mile ride, to pledge to raise at least $25 for the NorthBay Center for Diabetes and Endocrinology. For the 25- and 60-mile rides, participants are asked to pledge at least $50 in donations. Checks can be made out to NorthBay Healthcare Foundation, with Diabetes in the memo field. T-Shirts, a raffle ticket, and lunch will be provided for registered riders. Register online. For more information, call 707-301-8190, or contact by email. Hunting 101 for Adults   Sunday,  SEP  10, 2017

CALIFORNIA WATERFOWL ASSOCIATION —  Grizzly Ranch
This is a FULL day of preparation to get you prepared for your first hunt. Registrants must be age 16 & older and must bring Online Hunter Education completion certificate to event. The Itinerary includes a 4-hour Online Hunter Education course, Shooting skills, Hunting and Wild Game preparation skills. DIRECTIONS: Turn onto Grizzly Island Rd from Highway 12 in Suisun City. After 5.4 miles, you will fork right and cross Montezuma Slough Rd. After 3.3 miles turn right onto Van Sickle Rd. (Note: you should see a white fence) After 0.4 miles turn right into Grizzly Ranch. In 0.7 miles, you will arrive at the Ranch.

VISIONS OF THE WILD — 
The annual Visions of the Wild festival connects nature, culture and community. The festival brings together all segments of the region, and in particular, the spheres of conservation and art. The 2017 festival will run Sep 6-10 at locations in and around Vallejo. All events--with the exception of the river cruises--are free to the public. This is a fun and interactive weekend with activities for all ages. Enjoy learning about the creatures of the bay, taking an interactive walk along the waterfront, or a cruise to find out more about the local hydrologic cycle and the health of the San Francisco Estuary ecosystem.
