Peña Adobe Open House    Saturday,  SEP  2, 2017
11:00 AM

PEÑA ADOBE HISTORICAL SOCIETY & RUSH RANCH EDUCATIONAL COUNCIL —  Peña Adobe Park
The Peña Adobe Historical Society is happy to welcome UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine’s affiliate, The California Raptor Center, to the monthly open house at the Peña Adobe Park in Vacaville. Julie Cotton, Outreach Coordinator for the California Raptor Center, seeks to introduce people of all ages to raptors and their habitats, and to encourage appreciation, respect, and protection of these magnificent birds. When a bird of prey is sick, injured, or lacking the ability to survive in the wild, it can often mean the end of its life, or, after receiving the best of care, some birds still cannot be released. The California Raptor Center (CRC) provides a home for non-releasable birds and uses them as educators. Also, Park docents will be available to lead tours of the Peña Adobe, California historical landmark #534 built by the Peña family in 1842. Stop in the adjacent Mowers-Goheen Museum and view a woolly mammoth bone, period clothing and local artifacts found during the Peña Adobe restoration. For questions in advance, call (707) 447-0518.
Location:
     4699 Peña Adobe Road
