The SOFITCITY Challenge is the day ordinary heroes of all speeds, creeds, and sizes run this town for a healthier city, fitter families and fitter kids. Take the challenge and make a change for yourself or as an example for those you love. Grab your capes, cloaks and masks. Its time to save the city! Enjoy a fast course with music, fun and a costume dance party like no other! The raucous event begins at the Solano Community College our new location with a new scenic route. Pets and strollers welcome. Raise funds for your cause or ours. Health & Fitness Expo from 8:00am-12:00pm. 10K Run at 9:00am, 5K Run/Walk at 9:05am, 2.5K Run/Walk and 1K Run/Walk at 10:00am. 16th Annual Dixon Scottish Highland Games & Gathering   Saturday,  SEP  24, 2016

DIXON SCOTTISH CULTURAL ASSOCIATION —  Dixon Fairgrounds
We'll have traditional Scottish athletic competitions, Scottish Highland and Irish Step-Dancing performances, 'Find your Scottish ancestry' at the many clan information tents, children's games, Scotch whisky tasting program, rugby tournament, Scottish living history displays, Scottish animals, after-games Ceilidh music party, barbecue, and a wee bit more! Enjoy the region's finest Scottish bagpipe and drum bands; including our Dixon Scottish club's home band, the Dunvegan Pipe Band plus Celtic, Scottish and Irish rock and folk music of Tempest, Avalon Rising, Arbroath, Michael Mullen and Flask. BENICIA STATE PARKS ASSOCIATION —  Forrest Deaner Native Plant Botanic Garden
We meet every Saturday from 9:30-11:30am in the Forrest Deaner Native Plant Botanic Garden located at the Benicia State Park Recreation Area for planting, weeding, and tending. Parking is free on Saturday Volunteer Days. Tell the Gate Attendant that you are going into the Park to work at the Garden.

Traditional Hunter Education   Saturday,  SEP  24, 2016

CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF FISH & WILDLIFE —  Pacfic Flyway Supplies
This is a 2-day class scheduled for Saturday, Sep 24 and Sunday, Sep 25. Registration for this class is "online" only and must be completed before the day of the class. The Traditional Hunter Education course consists of a minimum of 10 hours of classroom, homework, and field instruction. The Traditional Course is most often preferred by first-time hunters. Students must attend both classes. There is a $ 20.00 class fee. Stop by the store and pick up study book before class and complete quiz on chapters one and two. If you have any questions, call Mike at 916-524-3495. Students will receive training in firearms safety and handling, sportsmanship and ethics, wildlife management and conservation, archery, black powder, wildlife identification, game care, first aid, and survival. After a student has successfully completed the course of instruction and passed the final examination, they are awarded a Certificate of Completion. All students are required to obtain a California Get Outdoors ID (GO ID) prior to registering for California Hunter Education courses. If you have previously held a CDFW license (i.e. Fishing), your GO ID is printed on the license above your name. To complete registration, visit the CDFW website.
