GVRD —  McIntyre Ranch
Ages 4-14 -- The McIntyre Ranch is home to several different habitats, farm animals and an educational garden. Studies have found that children who spend time exploring nature are more focused and interested in school. Bring a snack, water and your curiosity! Cost: $5/class for residents, $6/class nonresident. Adults must register at no cost. Pre-registration is required at 395 Amador St. or online. DIRECTIONS: McIntyre Ranch, located at the very end of St. Johnís Mine Road, across from the Solano Community College Vallejo Center at 545 Columbus Parkway. Take St. Johnís Mine Road and cross over the cattle crossing. Continue up the road and stay to the right to follow the road down to the barn. You are authorized to drive through this road for GVRD programs only.

 
Novice Adult Pheasant Hunt Weekend   Saturday,  OCT  6, 2018

CALIFORNIA WATERFOWL ASSOCIATION —  Birds Landing Hunting Preserve and Sporting Clays
Womenís Pheasant Hunt Weekend (Sat, Sep 29 and Sun, Sep 30) at Birds Landing Hunting Preserve & Sporting Clays is an amazing opportunity to complete hunter education, get shooting instruction and go on a mentored hunt (with loaner guns available) the next morning. Itís a fast and easy way to give hunting a try without a major commitment of time or money, and youíll meet other women you can continue to hunt with down the road Ė lasting friendships are formed at this event! If space is available, we will allow already-licensed women and significant others to join us for the entire event, or just for the hunt. Cost is $250 per person, which includes meals, lodging, hunting license and upland stamp (bird cleaning is available at Birds Landing for an additional fee).

Sunday Supper at Joyful Ranch   Sunday,  OCT  7, 2018

SOLANO LAND TRUST —  Joyful Ranch
The evening will be one of slowing down, enjoying friends, and celebrating the bounty of Solano County. It will begin at 4 p.m. with an opening reception where guests will savor hors díoeuvres and a glass of local wine while strolling through the orchard or visiting the restored gristmill barn. Then attendees will gather under a canopy of trees for a locally-sourced family-style dinner prepared by Chef Lindsey Chelini, owner of Backdoor Bistro in Vacaville. Specially selected local and regional wines will be paired with the meal. During a live auction, participants will have the opportunity to raise their paddles for one-of-a-kind packages that include Solano excursions and other special experiences, including private dinners with executive chefs, and private guided hikes on beautiful lands. Horse Day at McIntyre Ranch   Saturday,  OCT  20, 2018

GVRD —  McIntyre Ranch
For ages 8-17 -- Learn about the friendly horses and goats, and participate in their daily care. Wear sturdy work clothes and tough shoes because this is a "hand-on" experience. You will put a halter on a horse, learn to lead horses safely, brush them, clean their feet and clean their stalls. Everyone will have a chance to sit on a horse (helmet are required and provided, keep hairstyle simple for easy fit). Eat a good breakfast, bring water bottle and wear layers.
