12th Annual Lynch Canyon Trail Run and Community Hike   Saturday,  JUN  1, 2019
8:00 AM

SOLANO LAND TRUST, SOLANO COUNTY PARKS, BAY AREA RIDGE TRAIL —  Lynch Canyon
Register now for the 5k, 10k, or half marathon run because they are expected to sell out! Run, skip, hike or walk! Teams encouraged! Costumes encouraged! What to be prepared for: all ages are welcome but they must be prepared for rugged, steep, and slippery hills that are full of sticky seeds and thorny plants. Expect rough, rocky, uneven ground. Lynch Canyon is home to wildlife and it’s a working cattle ranch—wildlife and cattle are free to roam as they please. In order to protect wildlife, cattle, and rare plants—and for your pet’s safety—dogs are not allowed. Maintain a safe distance from cattle and wildlife, and be aware that this is tick, mountain lion, poison oak, and potentially rattlesnake country. Bring trail running shoes with good grip. Check out more details online.
Location:
     3100 Lynch Road
     Vallejo
DIRECTIONS: From I-80 East, take the Hiddenbrooke Parkway exit and follow the Lynch Canyon signs. From I-80 West, take the Red Top Road exit and follow the Lynch Canyon signs.

Nature Hike at King-Swett Ranches   Saturday,  JUN  1, 2019
9:00 AM

SOLANO LAND TRUST —  King-Swett Ranches
Come explore the hills between Fairfield, Benicia, and Vallejo! You'll be led by expert Solano Land Trust guides who know this area—known as the King-Swett Ranches—inside out. They'll share insights about the wildlife and spring flowers in this area, and give you a great workout! Take advantage of this special opportunity if you can because the King-Swett Ranches are otherwise closed. Bring: a backpack with plenty of water and snacks, boots or sturdy closed-toe shoes with tread for rugged, steep, and slippery off-trail terrain, long, sturdy pants and layered clothes that you don't mind getting dirty, protection from the elements (sun, wind, fog, rain). Recommended: binoculars, camera, bug repellent, hiking sticks, gaiters. Participants of all ages are welcome, but they must be prepared: a strenuous pace hiking up to 6 miles off-trail, up and down rugged, steep, and slippery hills that are full of sticky seeds, thorny plants, and thistle. The King-Swett Ranches are working ranches—cattle are free range so they roam as they please. Only heavy rain cancels—call Jim at 707-373-1221 if the weather is uncertain. Space is limited and registration is recommended. For more information or to register, visit us online.
Leader: Jim

DIRECTIONS: Meet promptly at the Park-and-Ride lot where McGary Road, Hiddenbrooke Parkway, and American Canyon Road intersect (on the Hiddenbrooke side of the American Canyon/Hiddenbrooke Parkway exit, off Interstate 80). Be ready to carpool or caravan from there.

Mare Island Half Marathon, 10K, and 5K   Sunday,  JUN  30, 2019
8:30 AM

MARE ISLAND BREWING CO. —  Mare Island
We will be running from the Mare Island Brewing Company Coal Shed location on Mare Island and stay on the island for the full race. Our Half Marathon course will take you along the historic naval yard on the east side of the island to the highest point of Mare Island for beautiful views of the Bay, Mt. Diablo, and Mt. Tamalpais. It will then run you down by the Old Admiral housing and out to the Mare Island portion of the San Pablo Bay trail on the western side of the island. The 10K will take you by the Old Admiral housing and the San Pablo Bay Trail before heading to the finish. The 5K race will run by the Old Admiral housing before heading to the finish. All courses are still going through the approval process and some tweaks may be made, but the overall feel for the race should not alter too much. Parts of the run through the San Pablo Bay Trail are unpaved. For more information or to register visit us online.
