Rush Ranch 'Get the Rush'   Saturday,  OCT  15, 2011

SOLANO LAND TRUST —  Rush Ranch
Get the Rush is a series of fun and free activities designed for families—all ages and mobility levels are welcome! 9:00am: Tour the scenic tidal marsh and upland grasses of Rush Ranch. 10am to 1pm: Take a trip back in time at the historic Rush Ranch Blacksmith Shop, and Little Bear's display of Native American tools and decorations. 11am to 1pm: Enjoy horse-drawn wagon rides (all are welcome, but the wagons are especially designed for wheelchairs and others with limited mobility). BRING: Water, snacks or bag lunch, bug repellent. Optional: binoculars, camera.

CNPS - WILLIS LINN JEPSON CHAPTER —  Forrest Deaner Native Plant Botanic Garden
We meet every Saturday from 9:30-11:30am in the Forrest Deaner Native Plant Botanic Garden located at the Benicia State Park Recreation Area for planting, weeding, and tending. Parking is free on Saturday Volunteer Days. Tell the Gate Attendant that you are going into the Park to work at the Garden.

SUISUN MARSH NATURAL HISTORY ASSOCIATION —  Rockville Hills Regional Park
The Suisun Marsh Natural History Association will be holding a 2-hour field trip in Rockville Hills Park starting at 9:30 am. The interpretive tour will focus on the customs, lifestyles and religious ceremonies of the local Suisun Indians. Binoculars, water, and walking shoes are recommended. This walk may be difficult for small children, as there is some uphill walking. The walk will be held on Saturday. Registration is limited to 25. This event is free to members and $5.00 for non-members. For more information or to register, call the Wildlife Center at: (707) 429-4295, 9am – 6pm. All proceeds assist the Suisun Marsh Natural History Association in its Suisun Wildlife Center.

Come enjoy the fall bounty of Suisun Valley, a family favorite! Visit local farms stands, U-Pick farms, and travel from one winery to the next to taste Suisun Valley. Plan a day or weekend exploring this unique setting with your family. Discover all the wonderful local products, activities and fun on the farms. Free and open to the public, this is a one-of-a-kind slow-food movement event. Children enjoy being able to pick their own fruits, vegetables, and flowers, which are all locally grown. Budding chefs in your household will delight in the fresh varieties of fruits and tomatoes, while parents gather fresh produce to carry on the traditions of canning and making your own jellies and jams. Each day’s activities run from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with local restaurants open for breakfast and lunch You can dine at Rockville Grill, Vintage Caffe, and The Valley Café, or you can pick up picnic “to go” items at any of these locations.
