10:00 AM SOLANO LAND TRUST Rush Ranch Before Thanksgiving feasts and Black Friday frenzies, take a leisurely stroll and have a relaxing picnic lunch at the marsh. Volunteers will lead a guided walk alongside the marsh at Rush Ranch. As you tour this part of Suisun Marsh, you’ll learn how the tide affects its unique food web. After learning what marsh animals eat for their lunch, enjoy your own lunch under the trees. Meet at 10am beside the maps and murals in the Rush Ranch courtyard, just outside the entrance to the Nature Center. Expect to return from the walk and finish the picnic at about noon. You’ll come away knowing why Suisun Marsh is special throughout the Bay Area and the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta, and why Rush Ranch in particular is locally loved and nationally famous! Volunteer Gayle Vaughan will be your guide. BRING: Your own picnic lunch and water for the walk. Be prepared for variable weather by bringing layered clothes, sturdy closed-toe shoes, and protection from sun, wind, and fog. Also recommended: binoculars, camera, and bug repellent. 10:00am – 12:00pm, RAIN CANCELS. Leader: Gayle Vaughan Location: 3521 Grizzly Island Road Suisun City DIRECTIONS: From Hwy 12 in Suisun City, take Grizzly Island Road south approximately 2 miles. Entrance/driveway will be on the right. |
