Discover a different point of view this July 4 with a Moonlight and Fireworks Hike at Lynch Canyon. Join docent Lawrence Sander for this after-dark hike up steep hills to the Bay Area Ridge Trail on Wednesday, July 4, from 8pm to about 11:30pm. Depending on what kind of visibility the weather provides, hikers should be able to see various communities’ fireworks between Lynch Canyon and San Francisco starting at 9:30pm. What’s certain is that a 99 percent full moon will rise at 9:19pm, perfectly timed to illuminate the hike back down to the park exit. Assemble at the entry gate between 7:30 and 8pm. Since the hike is after-hours, the gate will be locked except for entry between 7:30 and 8pm and exit at approximately 11:30pm. What to bring: Flashlight or headlamp; drinking water; snacks; closed-toe shoes that grip; jacket, pants and other layered clothes in case of wind and cold; and bug repellent. Binoculars may be desirable too. Leave pets, fireworks, and alcohol at home. There is no cost, but reservations are required. RSVP to Natalie DuMont at 707-432-0150 x200 or volunteer@solanolandtrust.org, or on Facebook at www.facebook.com/events/288427617921782/.
